Coca-Cola Company Supports Girls on the Run of New Orleans

GOTR Executive Director proudly displays $20,000 check from The Coca-Cola Company

At the Essence Festival Press conference on July 5th, 2012, The Coca-Cola Company presented Girls on the Run of New Orleans $20,000 donation.  The Coca-Cola Company has partnered with the City of New Orleans through its Fit NOLA initiative, in an effort to improve the health of its residents by 2018. The donation will be used to provide general operating support for Girls on the Run of New Orleans programs and 5K.  Additionally, The Coca-Cola Company will provide a $5,000 donation of hydration beverages, including Dasani, smartwater and Powerade.

“We want to encourage our youth to participate in sports and exercise programs so they will grow up healthier and with the confidence to pursue their dreams,” said Ingrid Saunders Jones, Senior Vice President of Global Community Connections for The Coca-Cola Company and Chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation. “These programs are making a unique difference in the New Orleans community, and we share the city’s vision of creating a ‘fit community.’”

Girls on the Run of New Orleans is proud to partner with The Coca-Cola Company and FitNOLA to bring a positive youth development program to girls in the New Orleans community.
